The Karnas Vineyard  

The İşmen family founded the Karnas Vineyard in 2005 after being inspired by the wines of California. Today, they produce three wine varieties using traditional methods and prioritizing sustainability and environmentally friendly practices.  

In addition to the vineyard, the farm is also home to an olive tree orchard. Two thousand five hundred olive trees are growing on the property. While there are young trees, many of the trees are hundreds of years old. One of these elderly olive trees is a prized tree is a 1,000 year old tree. These precious trees are carefully cultivated to continue to thrive while producing high quality olives.  

Karnas Syrah  

The Karnas Syrah is an elegant and full-bodied wine with velvety tannins. This wine is perfect for those who enjoy aging their wine. It features deep flavors of violas, blackberries, and red plum. You’ll also take note of the hints of spices, chocolate, and smoked notes. The 2015 wine received a Master Class degree in the Turkey Sommeliers’ Selection 2017. 

Karnas Zinfadel  

This is the first Zinfandel produced by a vineyard in Turkey. It’s not your typical fruity or flowery wine. Instead, it has a hearty intensity that is full bodied with rounded tannins. This gives it an intense yet balanced flavor profile. You will taste fresh blackberries with hints of licorice, mocha, and black pepper. On the nose, oregano, rosemary, and tobacco give the wine and robust presence.  

Karnas White Zinfandel  

The Karnas Vineyard’s white zinfandel is bright and fruity with a rounded mouth feel that is long on the palate. You’ll take notes of citrus, raspberry, red wild berries, and fresh mountain herbs.  

Culinary Experience  

In addition to wine and olives, you can enjoy a taste of the local culinary delicacies at the on-site restaurant. The talented chef creates unique seasonal menus that utilize locally sourced produce. Many of the ingredients are grown directly on the farm. These include pomegranate, olives, figs, strawberries, okra, sea beans, and topan aubergines. 

 You’ll enjoy breathtaking views of golden sunsets over the Aegean hilltops as you enjoy your meal. Nestled among the olive trees, dining at the Karnas Vineyard is an immersive experience that truly is farm to table.  

How to Visit  

If you want to visit the Karnas Vineyard, you must travel about 25 from the city center or 10 minutes from the Milas-Bodrum Airport. The winery is open Tuesday through Sunday from 12:30 to 10 pm. Guests of the winery are able to visit the farm, vineyard, and olive orchards. You can contact the winery to inquire about attending a wine tasting, food and wine event, or make reservations at the on-site restaurant.
